Patriotic Santa!

P1020471_edited-1

I just love the holidays and I always cannot wait until the Christmas cartoons come on--I'm worse than a kid I tell ya'!!  My favorites have always been Frosty & Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, even though we have the DVD's I still like to watch them on TV, lol!  This new SUINK set "Deer Ol Santa" just reminds me so much of those cartoons---so fun and cute!  And I love to mix and match all these stamps for a new look everytime.

I wanted to create a card and matching ornament to use as a holiday gift for the kid's teachers.  I used a coaster for my ornament frame.  To cut the center out I used my square scalloped Nestabilties and placed a piece of clear acetate on the backside.  After stamping, coloring & cutting out my Santa I attached him w/ a dimensional to the acetate.  This way when it hangs on the tree, Santa looks like he's flying, lol!  I colored the edges of the coaster with my Copics and a liquid gold pen along with a layer of my dp.

For the card I sponged a nighttime cloudy sky with ink and I pierced holes and threaded red embroidery thread throught to create Santa's reins.  Just a fun gift and card to give to someone special!

Customer Spotlight!

We have so many fabulous customers here at SUINK that I thought it might be fun to do a little customer spotlight!  Ya know, find someone who does a fabulous job with our stamps and showcase their work on here.  I am so excited to introduce this fantastic stamper.  Her name is Janna and she will amaze you with her talent.  I always get excited to see her post as I know her creations will be wonderful.  Hmmm, will she be one of the new DT members????  Never know!

Here is some more about her.

Janna  I am a stay at home mother to a beautiful little girl named         Isabella who will be two in April.  I have been with my wonderful and supportive husband for 11 years and married for 6 of those.  I picked up stamping a little over nine months ago and haven't been able to stop since.  I am now completely addicted.  My husband was actually the one who encourage me to find a hobby that I like.   I think my favorite thing about stamping is actually the community.  Everyone is so welcoming and gracious and willing to share their ideas.  I also love the coloring aspect of stamping.  Ever since I was a kid, I have enjoyed coloring.  Every year for Christmas I would get a giant coloring book and try to make it last all year.  I guess my stamps are my giant coloring book!

And now you get to see some of her favorite SUINK creations.

Whachadoing Wednesday Challenge 14 - Ornament

Here is my creation for this challenge. Isn't she darling?  I began with a glass snowflake ornament. I rubbed some glue and glitter on the ornament and then let it dry. Next I stamped this adorable little snowlady from the Snow Day set on Whisper White and colored her with markers. I added some of the same glitter to the snow and snow flakes to pull it together. The sentiment needed to be altered to fit my snowflake.. hope Denise don't mind, lol!

SUINKWWC14 - Santa's Little Helpers Ornament

Santa ornament close upHappy Wednesday! It's Whachadoin' Wednesday at Storage Units, Ink and More, which means another FUN challenge from Mary Jo.  This week, the challenge was to make an ornament-- Any ornament, any shape, any kind!

I was inspired by one of my fellow design team members, the wonderfully talented Suzanne Dean, to try one of the chipboard coaster ornaments.  I had a TON of these sitting around and what a cute way to use them!!

While I don't have EIGHT trees to decorate (Wow Suzanne are you ambitious!), I do have 2 big ones and 2 little ones in my kids rooms-- So I can always use MORE ornaments-- and I have about two weeks before I decorate, so I better get going on them!

To make this, I just used a standard 4 x 4" medium weight chipboard coasterSUINKWWC14 and cut DP and Cardstock to the same size to adhere to both sides.  I then used my Crop-o-dile to punch a hole for a large eyelet and tied the ribbons and cord to make a hanger for it.

The image was colored with copics and popped up on dimensionals to give it some dimension and all in all-- these were quick, easy, and I think- pretty darn cute!!

We'd love to have you play along this week-- I need more ideas-- So we'd love to see what you come up with!! Have a great day!

SUINKWWC14 - Peace on Earth Ornament

I'm so excited to share with you my project for Whachadoing Wednesday Challenge #14 which was to make an ornament.  I wanted to make an ornament for my parents to hang on their tree and so here it is, Peace on Earth.

WWC14_Ornament

I started off with a wood frame, distressed it a bit and added a some Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.  On the top left and right corners I used the Crop-a-Dile to punch holes and threaded a strip of silver cording, with the ends on the front of the frame so I could add some Clear Round Beads from the Pretties Kit. I thought it just added a little something extra.  I also punched two holes in the middle of the top edge of the frame and set it aside.

I stamped the sentiment and images from Oh Holy Night set with StazOn ink onto shrink plastic.  I cut out the the sentiment and images out into a square and cut the angel out by itself.  I punched holes on the halo of the angel and two holes on the top edge of the square.  I used a jump ring to attach the angel and brads to attach the square to the frame with silver brads.

Here's a close up of the images.

SUINKWWC14 - Happy Holidays

Today's challenge at Storage Units, Ink & More is a fun one. It's bound to put you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Personally, I'm still in denial that Christmas is only 41 days away! OMG, how is that possible?

Suinkornamentsm

The challenge is to make an ornament. You do not have to use SU Ink stamps, but if you have them we'd love to see them. I chose to make a very simple ornament using a Making Memories acrylic snowflake frame. I backed the frame with Creative Imaginations patterned paper. I then covered a chipboard star in Anna Griffin PP and added silver Stickles in a random pattern to add some shine. I punched a hole in the chipboard with my Crop-a-dile and threaded and tied silver ribbon to it. I stamped "Happy Holidays" from the "Deer Ol Santa" stamp set in SU Cranberry Crisp on the same PP, punched it out and added it to the star with dimensionals.

I can't wait to see what you create and post. If you upload to SCS, please put SUINKWWC14 in the keyword field so we can check it out!

It's all about the details:
Card stock: None
Patterned Paper: Creative Imaginations, Anna Griffin
Stamps: Storage Units, Ink & More
Ink: Stampin' Up, Cranberry Crisp
Accessories: Ribbon, foam squares, Stickles, Making Memories acrylic frame, Chipboard star
